Bio
My work is inspired by the earth, nature, geological layers, architecture and archeology. Through these references, he achieves a timeless result with a certain lack of definition and a game of opposites that borders the border between an ancient / futuristic object, rubble / precious stone, painting / sculpture, large / small scale, smooth / rough, abstraction / figuration. , producing a certain strangeness or mystery in the viewer when facing the pieces. Some between layers of copper, metal mesh, ceramic and coatings that seem to hide knowledge that we have forgotten, trapped between cement, plasters and binders. These objects follow the logic of the geological underground layers. You have to dig, but with intuition and gaze more than with logic.
Statement
This series of works called Poetic Geographies, arises from the random process that gives rise to each piece. It is a slow and conscious superposition, a work that progresses layer after layer, starting with an iron skeleton, on which layers of plaster accumulate, each one of different colors, thicknesses and textures. Although created recently, they seem to have been around for years. They don't shine with the plastic sparkles of what we used to call “new”, cell phones, cars, clothes. On the contrary, their roughness and imperfections make them extremely evocative objects. The gesture is key, allowing the materials to drain, follow their natural course, managing to incorporate the expression of each one at a specific time and place.
